Beautiful, glitzy, wonderful California: this is what the world pictures when they think America. The choppy Pacific ocean, the impressive sun, and that oppressive warmth for most of the year; what is there not to love? If any place is perfect, it’s California.
Amongst all this perfection is Caprice academy, home to around three hundred teenagers for four years. Theoretically, boarding school should be about getting the best academics available, even if that means leaving family and home behind. But while Caprice certainly offers wonderful academics, not everyone takes their studies seriously. For some, ok, most of the student body texting the latest rumors and getting trashed at a party comes first on their list, well before studying. The high tuition doesn’t guarantee an A for everyone, but it’s not that hard to get by. Caprice does have a standard to uphold and failing students would not look good for California’s finest boarding school.
It’s easy to get lost in this mess, even with the best intentions. No one expects to fall into the hands of lies, sex, and alcohol, but when they take you their hold is strong. Don’t expect to leave this place the same as when you came in. Four years does a lot to a person, and high school will change you. Let’s just hope that change is for the better.
